Swisscom Builds Foundation For Next-Generation Services
Motive Software Helps Leading European Provider Ensure Positive User Experience Across Broadband Service Lifecycle
MADRID, Oct. 3, 2005 -
Today at Broadband World Forum, Motive announced that Swisscom Fixnet is using Motive software to build a strategic advantage into its broadband business: end-to-end management automation capabilities that deliver a low touch subscriber experience and minimize the up-front investment required to operationalize next-generation digital services.
Swisscom Fixnet, Swisscom Group’s fixed line division, now serves over one million DSL subscribers in Switzerland – more than 600,000 under its service brand Bluewin. In 2004, the company rolled out a Motive-based management tool called “Quick Help,” enabling subscribers of Swisscom Fixnet Bluewin to solve service problems more quickly and effectively using Web- and phone-based automation solutions available in three languages. These solutions resulted in a significant reduction in support calls among Quick Help subscribers leading to Swisscom’s decision to deploy “ADSL Assistant,” a broadband self-installation solution based on Motive technology.
“Successfully building management automation into our Bluewin DSL offering will serve as a foundation for delivering a broader set of digital services,” said Thomas Gwerder, head of access at Swisscom Fixnet Bluewin. “As we enter new markets, Motive’s solutions will continue to play a key role in our ability to provide a superior user experience, allowing us to activate new subscribers more quickly and retain their business long-term.”
ADSL Assistant is based on Motive’s High Speed Data FAST Solution which has been used to activate more than 25 million broadband subscribers worldwide. Among other benefits, the solution includes automatic subscriber configuration capabilities so that subscribers can “turn up” Bluewin DSL services themselves – without having to call a customer service representative or request an onsite technician visit. The technology quickly guides Swisscom Fixnet Bluewin subscribers through the basic steps required to activate their DSL services, which greatly improves the subscriber experience and helps Swisscom control support costs.
“As one of the world’s truly visionary broadband providers, Swisscom understands the management issues associated with rolling out complex communication technologies,” said Bruno Teuber, Motive’s vice president and general manager for EMEA and APAC. “By working together, Motive and Swisscom Fixnet are laying the groundwork for broadband subscribers to add next-generation services more easily while ensuring a positive, consistent user experience for the entire service bundle.”
